We've had a few busy weeks here at the Cook Cottage... with family town, traveling to North Carolina, Illinois, and a bit further south in Florida. Wynnifred continues to grow like a weed, and I continue to draft posts my head that never seems make it to the keyboard, let alone typed out. So here we are...with a Photo-Spark-Notes update of what's going on with our crew!
Flat Rock, North Carolina
A couple weeks ago we ventured to NC to help drive Michele, Jon's mom down to Florida (had an extra vehicle that needed a driver, and midwesterner that wanted to see some falling leaves!)... which was perfect timing for a fall fix in the mountains! Little Wynnifred got to be all bundled up (after visiting the Fort in town the day before in her rocking shades) and enjoy fireside snuggles, fresh apple cider donuts, the Sierra Nevada Brewery & Restaurant (YUM!) and a little time behind the wheel!
There we enjoyed walks, shopping, and extra special time with Gamma Chelly! Jon was able to do some work too which was great! It was so refreshing being in the mountain air (and having a little Thanksgiving with Gamma Chelly and Grandpa while they were in Florida with us!)
Thanksgiving & Nana Banana Visit!
In a nutshell... we had Thanksgiving.. a bushel of oysters and set up our Christmas tree, played in a new pack & play, read books, snuggled, and enjoy togetherness.
....and then Nana Banana tried to take Wynnifred with her!!! Can't wait for another visit!
Visit with Santa at The Floridian!
One of our favorite local places is The Floridian - they serve fresh yummy food, and this year had a very special event to visit Santa - with a special cocktail menu :) Santa had a surfboard.. and tropical print shirt.... guess this is Florida after all!
Surprise Illinois Visit!
All three of us (basically) surprised Grandpa for his retirement party! I say basically because he figured it out while we were at the airport because my Friends location was turned off, and mom was at the airport longer than normal (waiting for us to land). He was still pretty excited though:) There was about one inch of snow, so we played! Jonathan 'shoveled' for the first time, and we made a few little snow men. Nickolas kept us all company and did an excellent job of snuggling!
We had a very special first Christmas in Vero Beach with Jon's parents. While I completely lost my voice, it didn't stop me from taking in our little girl having a blast snuggling two more puppies, her grandparents, and even more exciting opening her first Christmas presents! She truly did have a blast ripping the paper open and playing with her new goodies. We had an extra special time pulling her around in her new wagon too! The puppies sure did enjoy watching her roll around in style.
Christmas Part 2 & Geoffrey + Selena
After leaving Vero Beach we headed north to pick up Geoffrey & Selena at the airport! That night Santa came again - Oh What Fun! We had lox & bagels, mimosas and started the days with stockings before Wynnifred couldn't stand it anymore and wanted to open even more goodies! We had such a wonderful time sharing this with her Aunt & Uncle, Archie was especially fond of it too since he got to help again. We loved Christmas, but had even more fun the rest of the week - making Christmas cookies, visiting downtown and catching the Nights of Lights, as well as checking out the breweries with our Nights of Pints cards. It might have been cloudy and cold, but we did get to the beach - the foamy water even looked a little bit like snow.
